2019 Berkeley High Coup Ultimate

Donate

As a club team, Berkeley High Coup Ultimate does not receive financial support from Berkeley High School, Berkeley Unified School District, or the Berkeley Athletic Fund.  We rely on team fees and fundraising to pay for field rentals, equipment, league and tournament fees, insurance and travel expenses. Our dedicated volunteer coaches receive no payment and parent volunteers manage all of our team’s logistics.  Player fees (currently $350/year per player) generally cover the largest portion of the Ultimate team’s annual costs, but donations provide an essential part of the funds necessary to keep the team on the field, including scholarships for those who can’t afford the team fee.

Donate

There are two methods for donating to support the Berkeley High School Ultimate team.

Whichever method you choose, 100% of your donation will go directly to support the team.  Any amount you’re able to give will be greatly appreciated.

Option 1

The Ultimate team operates as an ASB Student Club through Berkeley High School, and the Student Ultimate Club may receive donations via check.  Donations to the Student Ultimate Club made through Berkeley High School (BUSD Tax ID No:  94-6002113) are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law; please consult with your personal tax advisor for information about the deductibility of any donation you choose to make.

To donate, make your check payable to “Berkeley High School,” with the word “Ultimate” and the player’s name in the memo line, and mail the check to:

BHS Student Ultimate Club, c/o Christie Beeman

3120 Lewiston Avenue

Berkeley, CA 94705

Option 2

Parent volunteers have incorporated an independent, parent booster organization, Berkeley High Coup Ultimate, as a California non-profit to support the Student Ultimate Club financially and logistically.  Berkeley High Coup Ultimate is applying for and expects to receive 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status from the IRS.  Once approved, all donations made to the organization, including those made before the IRS recognizes BHCU as exempt, will be tax deductible to the extent permitted by law; please consult with your personal tax advisor for information about the deductibility of any donation you choose to make.

Fundraiser

We typically have one fundraiser per year, a letter-writing campaign at the start of our spring season. Each player is asked to bring the addresses of friends and relatives to a weekend practice in February, where they personalize the fundraising letters and address the envelopes. Parent volunteers organize and assist at the fundraiser each year.
